Abstract

This image is part of a collection of images contributed by Mustakim Gierdien. This contribution is linked to his story published by ALSA: “ From district Six to Antarctica”. The publication, written by Mustakim Gierdien, a retired employee of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI), is a deeply personal narrative. It chronicles Mustakim's journey from his early years growing up in District Six, Cape Town, to his eventual involvement in the Antarctic and Island programme through DPWI.
