Copy of a Bill introduced in the Australian Parliament on 16 September 1954 for an Act to provide for the Government of the Australian Antarctic Territory and a copy of the Second Reading Speech of the Australian Minister for External Affairs in support of the Bill and in which Mr. Casey explained the object of the Bill (which is to provide for an adequate and effective system of law in the Australian Antarctic Territory). The Bill received the full support of the Labour Opposition and was passed by both Houses, without any amendment to become Act No. 42 of 1954.
