dc.description.abstract |
Seals were hunted for their fat and fur during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Marion Island was also home to numerous Sealers that hunted in the Sub-Antarctic Oceans. These images illustrate how a seal was clubbed and skinned in 1948. Seal was killed to make a blubber fire and one of the last ones that was killed fro non-scientific purposes |
