dc.description.abstract This Government Gazette (No. 26025), published on 18 February 2004, contains the official text of the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, 2003 (Act No. 57 of 2003), as signed into law by the President on 11 February 2004. The Act provides a legislative framework for the protection and sustainable management of South Africa’s protected areas, biodiversity, and natural landscapes. It sets out procedures for the declaration of protected areas at the national, provincial, and local levels and promotes cooperative governance and public participation in conservation efforts. en_ZA
