Annex VI to the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty (Madrid Protocol, 1991): Liability Arising from Environmental Emergencies

Abstract

This document forms part of the framework established under the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty (Madrid Protocol, 1991), which designates Antarctica as a natural reserve devoted to peace and science. There are a total of six annexes to the Protocol; this is Annex VI. It establishes rules for liability and response actions in case of environmental emergencies caused by human activities.
