Annex II to the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty (Madrid Protocol, 1991): Conservation of Antarctic Fauna and Flora

Abstract

This document forms part of the framework established under the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty (Madrid Protocol, 1991), which designates Antarctica as a natural reserve devoted to peace and science. There are a total of six annexes to the Protocol; this is Annex II. It regulates the taking of, harmful interference with, and introduction of non-native species in Antarctica. Permits are required for any interaction with native flora and fauna.
