dc.description.abstract This document is an Expression of Interest (EOI) for a scientific research project titled ICESTAR (Interhemispheric Conjugacy Effects in Solar-Terrestrial and Aeronomy Research), proposed for inclusion in the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007–2008. The project aims to investigate how space weather affects the Earth's polar regions, with a focus on interactions between the magnetosphere, ionosphere, and upper atmosphere. By comparing data from both the Arctic and Antarctic, ICESTAR aims to better understand how Earth's upper atmosphere and magnetic environment behave in the northern and southern polar regions, and how they may differ. en_ZA
