dc.description A member of last year's team -Marion 29- enjoying the few hours worth of monthly sunshine. The max temperature ever recorded at the base is 18 degrees Celsius, and although may seems cold, to us it's pretty hot once one is used to the below zero cold -round about -15 to -20- of winter. The drum behind him is a paraffin drum, used to heat some of the portable heaters in the various offices and in the main base. I have one of these in my lab. They are excellent heaters and surprisingly produce hardly any smell. All the heaters, fridges, deep freezers etc are specifically made to avoid the rusting problem. en_ZA
