Description:
Landing stage as seen from Boulders Beach. Prince Edward Island just visible in right background. Also bad picture but gives some idea of how loading and off-loading takes place. Boat ties up at end of landing stage, crane uses the nets to take off and re-load the rubber rafts towed by the ship's dingy. Landing stage lowered to water. The ladder at right end of landing stage is used to get onto and off the stage to lower it once it has been raised. Automatic looking block and tackle system, attached to hook shaped uprights on stage, used to lower and raise. Quite hefty work but good exercise for all.
