dc.description.abstract abstract en_ZA
dc.description.abstract The diving patterns of eight adult southern elephant seal, Mirounga leonina. cows (seven post-breeding and one post-moulting) from subantarctic Marion Island were recorded during the pelagic phase of their annual cycle, using geolocating time-depth recorders attached to the seals. It is postulated that the seasonal and individual variation in the diving behaviour of the southern elephant seal cows are related to their geographic locations and the abundance and behaviour of their prey. en_ZA
