dc.description.abstract This paper is concerned with the development of a criterion for the evaluation of successful adjustment to Antarctic conditions. Successful adjustment has been defined in terms of three components, viz effective work performance, effective group functioning and effective personal integration. The leaders of four South African National Antarctic Expeditions (1971 -1974) independently rated all members of their teams (n= 79) on 23 statements. en_ZA
