dc.description.abstract Operation Snoek Town was the name given to the secret military operation sent to annex the Prince Edward Islands in 1948. The wording on the sign - "Ünter dér Slosh"- meaning 'Under/below/amongst the slosh or mud' is a tongue-in-cheek referral to the name of the operation and the adverse conditions that the men experienced while establishing a base on the island. en_ZA
