dc.description.abstract |
The main base camp, buried under the snow. Originally the base was built on top, then over the years it got covered in snow. That teepee shape of three poles marks the entrance... down the ladder. You can see a winch dangling down from the posts… that is what they used to lower heavy objects into the base. The two upright objects in the middle of the picture (that look like chimneys) are ventillation shafts. |
