Sequence of events of drowning of PO Bold at Marion Island 1: Transvaal Cove : April 1956. Boats of SAS Transvaal in trouble. A few moments later both were swamped and thrown up on beach. Only one life lost. 2: SAS Transvaal whaler and motorboat at the warping buoy 3: Motorboat on left, whaler on right. The day after the tragedy. The motorboat a complete wreck, the whaler being patched with masonite strips and canvas. Hole 13’ long x 4’ wide. White and Yarrow did the repairs, helped by van Kooi and Lester. |
