The Kildalkey was built in the UK in 1918. She was owned by the Kerguelen Sealing and Whaling Company operating out of South Africa and was the last sealing vessel to visit Marion Island, from ~20 October to 12 November 1930, under Captain Hans Olaf Hansen with Quinton Horace Bullard as Radio Operator. She took 1490 elephant seals for blubber. The Kildalkey ran aground near Saldanha Bay, South Africa on 18 November 1936. Kildalkey Bay on Marion Island is named after her, also Hansen Point and Bullard Beach after the Captain and Radio Operator.
