dc.description.abstract The S.A. Agulhas II has embarked on a groundbreaking research voyage into the Indian Ocean, marking its first major mission in this region. Unlike its usual trips to Antarctica or sub-Antarctic islands, this expedition focuses on studying climate change, ocean currents, weather patterns, and marine ecosystems. The voyage is part of the Second International Indian Ocean Expedition (IIOE-2), involving scientists from across Africa. Researchers are collecting critical data on rising ocean temperatures, extreme weather, and microplastic pollution. en_ZA
