dc.description.abstract This article from Die Burger reports on the new role of the SA Agulhas, South Africa’s retired icebreaker and former research vessel. Now under the ownership of the German company JS Maritime, the vessel will be repurposed for both Antarctic tourism and continued scientific research. While it was previously used by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) for training purposes, a condition of the sale ensures it will still provide maritime training and development for South African sea cadets. A new program will support cadet education, mentorship, and job placement. en_ZA
