Pages are out of order Consists of a copy of a letter marked top secret from the Minister of Externals Affairs, Pretoria to the Secreatry of State for External Affairs, Ottawa. Letter mentions the Union Government's opinion that the British claims to the Falkland Dependencies is sufficiently well-founded. Regarding the rest of the Antarctic, Union Government considers the international trusteeship idea as inadvisable. Union Government has resolved to establish a permanent meteorological station on either Prince Edward Island or Marion Island or both. The frigate 'Transvaal' was sent to Marion Island and arrived on 25 December 1948.
