dc.description.abstract TNA FO 94/1539 South Africa signed the Whaling Agreement of 8 June 1937. They ratified it on 20 February 1946, “Agreement for the regulation of whaling” Signed by: Union of South Africa, United States of America, Argentine Republic, Commonwealth of Australia, Germany, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Irish Free State, New Zealand and Norway “desiring to secure the prosperity of the whaling industry, and for that purpose to maintain the stock of whales, have agreed as follows – Sizes of whales Types of whales Places and times when they can be caught Fullest possible use of whales should be made". en_ZA
